ABOUT THE WINERY:
Costaripa is a winery that since 1936 has seen the succession of 3 generations devoted to the land of Valtenesi, on the western shore of Lake Garda, among settings of incredible landscape charm and favorable geological situations marked by a large natural amphitheater of morainic origin. An area that enjoys 3000 hours of sunshine per year, with morning and evening breezes that cool from the heat and keep in balance the different climatic factors responsible for the optimal growth of vine plants. Biodiversity is also represented through the wide variety of soils that conceal within them various and multifaceted shades of different minerals, starting, however, from a common base of light soils of glacial origin. The Costaripa winery enjoys a temperate-continental climate, a direct influence of Lake Garda, which is, however, locally mitigated by the water masses of the lake basin, making the temperatures and weather conditions sub-Mediterranean in nature. Taking advantage of these environmental conditions, thanks to passion and experience, Mattia Vezzola, oenologist and owner, has managed to extrapolate from this territory its best expression, which, curiously enough, is characterized by a vocation for the elaboration of great rosé wines through an innovative and unique production technique called “lacrima vinification.” It is carried out by gravity and the red grapes are left to “tear” without implementing any pressing, naturally waiting for the draining of the noblest parts of the berries, leaving aside the must components closest to the marc and grape seeds, thus obtaining the purest part only from the pulp of the grapes. Costaripa also makes wine in its Moniga del Garda winery, however, an exclusive line of sparkling wines, using the classic method technique, mainly based on Chardonnay, also declined in elegant rosé versions thanks to the addition of Pinot Noir.
