Description

ABOUT THE WINERy:

Alto Adige is one of the Italian regions whose surface area devoted to vines is among the smallest: in fact, just over 5,000 hectares are devoted to the cultivation of vines. Nonetheless, it is difficult to find a region so attentive to the world of wine, which, also thanks to a particular geographical position which allows it to cross different climatic zones, is able to present itself with multiple faces. Among these, one of the most interesting and worthy of attention is that represented by the terroir surrounding Mazzon, a small hamlet located just above the municipality of Egna, on the eastern side of the Bassa Atesina. It is a plateau particularly suited to the cultivation of pinot noir, a variety which, thanks to the perfect altitude of the vineyards and a climate that alternates between refreshing breezes and very sunny days, finds the optimal conditions for growing. And it is precisely in Mazzon that the Kollerhof farm is located, whose farm of seventeenth-century origin certifies its presence in this area for several centuries. Owned by the Visintin family, it is a small production reality where Herbert, together with his sons, dedicates heart and soul to every stage of the production chain, from the vineyard to bottling. Among the vineyards, which cover about 4 hectares, in addition to the pinot noir, the absolute protagonist of the Mazzon cru, a very special vine is also grown, the solaris. It is a white berried variety resulting from several crossings, created in Germany in 1975, which has an incredible resistance to downy mildew, powdery mildew and botrytis. A vine which, moreover, also adapts to very harsh climates, not requiring particular treatments.
The Kollerhof winery gives life to two labels every year, Pinot Noir and the Solaris “Cucol”, with the goal, always achieved, of presenting high quality, expressive and identifying wines.
