ABOUT THE WINERY:
Tenuta Montenisa was born from the encounter between the ancient winemaking tradition of Marchesi Antinori and the vocated terroir of Franciacorta. The strong passion for sparkling wine of Lodovico and Piero Antinori has been handed down from 1905 to the present day with Tenuta Montenisa. Here the vineyards surrounding the villa owned by the Maggi family represent the beating heart of today’s sparkling wine production by Marchese Antinori in Franciacorta. The reality rises in the heart of Franciacorta, in the small and ancient village of Calino where in 1158 the extraordinary estate became the property of the Maggi counts of Brescian origin. Below the complex are the ancient cellars of the estate, where the bottles still gently rest today, as per tradition, to which the utmost attention is paid during their maturation phase. The yields in the vineyard are kept low and the grapes are harvested, as per tradition, slightly before full ripening to best concentrate the freshness of the fruit. The cultivated varieties are those that best represent the wine-growing area: mainly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with some parcels of Pinot Blanc. The vinification phases follow the rules of the Classic Method, therefore a first fermentation in steel, a long second fermentation in the bottle in contact with the yeasts and final disgorgement. The production of Tenuta Montenisa is told through six sparkling wines, three of which belong to the “Classics”, dedicated to the selections of the blends of the cuvées, and three other “Vintage” wines, produced only in the best vintages. The Franciacortas of Tenuta Montenisa are characterized by an elegant, fine and fresh profile , distinguished by a delicate bouquet of citrus fruits, notes of pastry, dried fruit and light mineral hints.
