ABOUT THE WINERY:
The Contadi Castaldi winery represents a perfect synthesis of the history of Franciacorta, which with its nineteen municipalities highly suited to exceptional agriculture, was already producing excellent wines in the 16th century. It is in fact since 1500 – the period of greatest splendor of the Republic of Venice – that the wines of Franciacorta were destined for the tables of princes, kings, nobles and rich merchants of the Serenissima. The splendid Venice was a thriving market of choice for Franciacorta, a real springboard, through which the Franciacorta wines themselves began to be known all over the world. With the name that comes to life from the union of two distinct terms – the “contadi” were the counties of Franciacorta in the Middle Ages, while the “castaldi” were the lords of the counties – the winery was born as an offshoot of Bellavista, and currently belongs to the same group to which the parent company belongs: “Terra Moretti”. Built by adapting what was once the ancient Biasca furnace, Contadi Castaldi is located in Adro, in the province of Brescia, it was founded in 1987, and above all it has established itself in just a few years thanks to the very high average quality of its Sparkling wines . It all started with the Satèn, a typology that has always been at the center of the company project, as well as a soft and velvety Franciacorta, which was gradually joined by the other wines, all of great personality, intimate and expressive, fragrant and always characterized by an organoleptic depth uncommon. From Satèn we move on to Brut, Rosé and Dosaggio Zero, up to the “new generation” labels, which include less traditional but at the same time intriguing and high-level wines. Currently being able to count on an area of 18 hectares of vineyards owned, to which are added another 112 hectares for rent, the production of the Contadi Castaldi winery currently stands at an average of 90 thousand bottles per year: Sparkling wines with absolute charm, which punctually impress for their complexity , structure, character, freshness, balance and depth.
