ABOUT THE WINERy:
The Champagne house Valentine Leflaive was born from the meeting of two great wine and terroir enthusiasts: Olivier Leflaive (Puligny-Montrachet) in Burgundy and Érick de Sousa (Côte des Blancs) in Champagne. Valentin Leflaive’s adventure has its roots in the history of the Leflaive family, led for many centuries by the love of the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines and by its exemplary work. The grapes come from old vines over 45 years old, located in parcels of the Grand Cru of Avize and Oger, harvested by hand with soft pressing and fermentation of the must partly in steel tanks and partly in French oak barriques for approx. 10 months. The wines of the Leflaive maison are assemblages of reserve wines and sent for the second fermentation, which takes place in the bottle according to the Classic Method, with a period of aging on the lees of 42 months before dégorgement. Each cuvée is identified by a dedicated code on the label: the letters define the grape variety and texture of each cuvée and the numbers indicate the years of the reserve wines used as dosage. Champagne Valentin Leflaive is an invitation to innovation and a positive and hedonistic approach.
