ABOUT THE WINERY
Winegrowers since the 16th century, the Gresser family has its well-known Domaine in Andlau halfway between Strasbourg and Colmar, on the Alsace wine route, at the foot of Mount Sainte Odile. The Gressers have always proved to be faithful to wine, handing down their innate passion for viticulture from generation to generation. Rémy Gresser, current owner of the Domaine, is a histrionic character, defined by many as a “fundamentalist and fanatic of respect for the environment”, always careful to protect his 10.3-hectare vineyards, favoring organic and biodynamic methods. The wines signed Domaine Gresser are all characterized by the mineral background that derives from the particular conformation of the terroir, a peculiarity that is best expressed in the different Grand Crus produced – above all the Wiebelsberg and the Kastelberg, expressions in which Riesling reaches truly important quality levels –. The cellar now produces more than a dozen labels, where simpler expressions, such as Gewürztraminer “Kritt” or the ever-sparkling Cremant d’Alsace, alternate with more complex “vendanges tardives” capable of satisfying even the most refined palates.
