ABOUT THE WINERY:

The Letrari winery, which is based in Rovereto, in Val Lagarina, was founded by Leonello Letrari and his wife Maria Vittoria in 1976. The Letrari family was already present in this region in the 17th century, first as raftsmen on the Adige, in Borghetto d’Avio, then as traders and finally as farmers. Leonello, born in 1931, began his career in the world of wine working in the Conti Bossi Fedrigotti company, where he showed his ingenuity by creating in 1961 the Fojaneghe, an Italian Bordeaux, which immediately met with great success. But the relationship with Count Federico is very troubled and stormy, so much so that, after a trip to France, with four friends Bepi Andreaus, Ferdinando Tonon, Pietro Tura and Riccardo Zanetti, he decides to leave the Company and to create with their collaboration l’Equipe 5, a classic method sparkling wine that marks the history of sparkling wine in Italy. The team of 5 friends dissolves and Leonello decides to set up on his own giving life to the CantinaLetrari. Today the baton of command has passed into the hands of his daughter Lucia Letrari, an expert oenologist, and his son Paolo Emilio. The winery has about 23 hectares of vineyards, scattered along the Adige valley, on poor and rocky soils, which enjoy a very favorable microclimate, due to the so-called Ora del Garda, to the point that in the valley the vineyards alternate with olive groves . In 2000 the Letrari family abandoned the old cellar of Palazzo Lodron in Nogaredo and inaugurated the new cellar in Borgo Sacco di Rovereto, a model cellar, respectful of the environment and of the traditional rural architecture of the region, full of all the most modern equipment for winemaking. The Letrari winery produces 27 different labels, including sparkling wines, red, white and rosé wines, but the flagship is undoubtedly the sparkling wines.
