The Fattoria Aldobrandesca is set in the historic “Etruscan area of ​​the Tufi”, where the landscape differs from the sea coast, characterized by plains and pine forests close to the beaches. Located instead in the hinterland, where the tuffaceous charm takes the form of city-strongholds dug into this rock of magmatic origin, its owners are none other than a family which, in the context of Italian wine production, is among the most historic and emblazoned : the Marchesi Antinori, who bought it in 1995 to be able to bring their noble enological vision to these lands too, rarely used for the creation of wines of cosmopolitan and international scope. Extending for 100 hectares at the foot of the tufa spur where the city of Sovana stands, the vineyards of the Aldobrandesca Farm are located at an altitude of 200 meters in altitude and are located on flat volcanic soils . Here, specifically in Scansanaccio, a small locality under the dominion of the municipality of Sorano, two grape varieties are placed side by side which maintain particularly different sensory profiles and origins: the Aleatico, a semi-aromatic quality deriving from a mutation of a black berried Moscato , and Malbec of Bordeaux origin, currently the standard-bearer vine of Argentine viticulture, which finds an excellent growth habitat in the slightly hilly Maremma lands. The history of the Fattoria Aldobrandesca is therefore, rejected, closely linked to the winemaking and entrepreneurial initiative of the Antinori family, which boasts a genealogy engaged in the cultivation of the vine and the vinification of its fruits which has lasted uninterruptedly for 26 generations, i.e. from when , in 1385, Giovanni di Piero Antinori becomes a member of the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri, the corporation dedicated to the purchase, trade and administration of the work of the “vinai” of the time. After having extended its domains arriving at the management of various plots of land throughout the peninsula, the international vision of the family has landed in Maremma, where it is possible to recognize in each bottle produced the elegance and finesse that distinguishes it.
